Cheddar Bacon Apple Cornbread Recipe

This savory-sweet apple cornbread combines sharp cheddar, smoky bacon, and crunchy apples in every bite! Perfect as a side for chili or BBQ beans, or simply as a cozy snack.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup cornmeal

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk

  • ¼ cup melted butter

  • 1 large egg

  • ½ cup diced apples

  • ¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup cooked bacon, chopped

Instructions:

  1. Prep: Preheat oven to 450°F. Grease a 9-inch skillet or baking pan.

  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, and baking powder.

  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat together milk, melted butter, and egg until smooth. Pour into dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  4. Fold: Gently fold in apples, cheddar, and bacon.

  5. Bake: Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Tips:

  • Swap buttermilk for extra tenderness.
