INGREDIENTS:
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
½ c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
Sauce/Syrup
1 c. maple syrup
1 ½ c. brown sugar
1 ½ c. water
1/3 c. butter
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 ° F.
1. Butter a 10 x 12-inch baking dish.
2. For the syrup, in a medium pot, place all the ingredients and bring to a simmer, simmer for 2 minutes and remove from the heat.
3. In a mixing bowl mix the flour, baking powder and salt.
4. In a large mixing bowl, add the butter with the sugar and vanilla, beat until light and creamy.
5. Add the flour alternately in three parts with the milk, starting and finishing with the flour.
6. Spread the batter in the baking dish.
7. Slowly add the syrup mixture. Do not stir or mix once the syrup is in the batter.
8. Place in the oven and cook for 45 minutes.
Serve warm, hot or cold with heavy cream or ice cream, share with friends, have it for breakfast!
