Best BBQ Sauce by Richelle
Not too sweet, not too tomatoey (new word alert), and really easy to make!
I don’t know how it happened I started making my own BBQ Sauce, but it happened. I do not always make it, but when I make it, I always have great results and reviews. I also find to get a BBQ sauce I truly like from the store is hard, the cheaper brands are watery, and others are often overly sweet. This recipe makes a large batch, enough for 2 large mason jars, I suggest cutting the ingredients in half if you wish to make less, but you should know, it stores really well.
Make it, love it and share it!
INGREDIENTS:
1 medium onion, finely diced
Olive oil
3 cups Ketchup
1 ½ cup brown sugar
1 ½ cup maple syrup (you can replace this with brown sugar)
2 tbsp. molasses
4 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. cloves
3 cups smooth tomato sauce
1 tbsp. coarse sea salt
INSTRUCTIONS :
Drizzle oil in large heavy bottom pan and add onions over medium heat. Cook till onions become translucent. Add all the ingredients and get to simmer, lower the heat to low and simmer for an hour. Voilà! A BBQ sauce you will love, your family and friends more so!
